The Symphonix Evolution Player is a simple MIDI player application that is able to load files in either Standard MIDI Format (.MID) or the Symphonix Evolution notation format (.SXE). The Player is a "universal" app that can run on both the iPhone/iPod Touch and the iPad.
Main Screen (iPhone/iPod)
On the iPhone/iPod Touch, the main screen looks like this:
From top to bottom, this screen consists of a Button Bar, Synth Panel, Keyboard Navigator Strip and Piano-style Keyboard.
From left to right, the Button Bar has buttons for:
The Synth Panel controls the sound. Touch the numeric display panels to change the values:
The Keyboard Navigator can be used to select the note octave that will be used for the onscreen piano keyboard. Touch anywhere on this strip to change the current octave. The "Middle C" note is marked with a red dot to assist in selecting a useful range.
The Piano-Style Keyboard allows you to play along with the music, or use the Player app as an ad hoc music keyboard. Any notes played here will also output to a connected Core MIDI hardware device, if available.
Main Screen (iPad)
The Player looks like this when running on an iPad, and takes advantage of the extra screen resolution and larger screen size:
From top to bottom, the Player displays Music Notation, Button Bar, Synth Panel and Piano-style Keyboard.
The Notation panel displays the music notation for the song being played. It scrolls along with the music during playback and shows the current measure/bar number. When the song is not being played, touch and scroll this panel to manually move the display anywhere in the song.

The Synth Panel controls the virtual synth. Touch a button or numeric display to activate a control for that function. From left to right, the buttons and panels are:
