Connecting a MIDI Device

Symphonix Evolution supports compatible  MIDI devices attached via the USB Camera Connection Kit:

1. Ensure that the MIDI device is NOT connected.
   
2. Start the Symphonix Evolution application.
   
3. Connect the MIDI device.
   
4. After a few seconds, the device will be detected by Symphonix and will respond to music or keyboard events.

Local and MIDI modes

Use the button to toggle "Local Mode" on or off.  If Local mode is on, music can be heard through the internal speaker.  If Local mode is off, no music will play through the internal speaker.

Use the button to toggle "MIDI Mode" on or off.  If MIDI mode is on, music will be played through an external MIDI device.  If MIDI mode is off, MIDI input will still be received but will not sound through the internal speaker.

If an external MIDI device is connected it is recommended that Local Mode be disabled.  This will reduce the CPU overhead when playing or recording music by turning off the virtual synthesizer, making it possible to work with more complicated songs.
